A company is created by a team of people and when people come together, the only thing that ties them together to speak one language for one goal is CULTURE.
To set & communicate the correct work/company culture is one of the most challenging activity/ task for company of any size.
With the Millennial kids coming into the workforce, this has become a little bit more than being difficult… maybe only for me, if not for you
Why do i say so??
I say so ‘cos I’m struggling to get some of my new team members to understand that working with discipline is non-negotiable.
I have some team members who would seek work-off on a weekday but would then work until late hours or over weekends to complete the work. There are some who would volunteer to carry work home over weekend but would want to have super felxi-work timing over the week.
What’s my problem if they manage to make the delivery in time?
My problem is when they work in odd hours and need design feedback/support – i need to be available to answer to them and so most of the times, such work is unfinished. Then I question is flexi-working hours the only way to be able to form a team and sustain…
My experience tells me…
to grow the first thing one needs to do is COMMIT TO DISCIPLINE and this is non0negotiable.
