Since the last week of Feb there’s this constant preparation and discussion about women’s day. People look at March as women’s month these days… any event during march and people want to talk about women’s day.
As much as I try to get myself to understand the importance of this day but am not able to relate to it. my questions are
- Celebrating it for one day or one month – can we really get the crime against women come down?
- Celebrating it for one day or one month – can we really get education to women who deserve it but can’t reach to it?
- Celebrating it for one day or one month – can we really get them to understand that one has to stand for their own rights and respect first.
We still have parents and moms teaching their girls “beta always take care of your family first and then of you”. They forget to tell their daughters ” beta people will love you or respect you only if you love and respect yourself”!
Why is it that suddenly in the month of march corporates want to call upon women from different walks of life and get them to share their story? Why is it that people call upon for women specific seminars? Ladies & Gentlemen march is also celebrated for Holi – Festival of Colors. Each color is important and so is each human being.
Colors contrast each other, Colors compliment each other; in either situations, they complete each other
We are in a unisexual environment today. The difference between men and women remains only in their physical built and physical difference. From the world of HouseWife we are now in the world of HouseHusband. Which means some of us are seeking and living in a community where individual is allowed to choose the kind of life one wants with nobody judging them for their choices.
I wish to give my children a world with fresh air and freedom to express, where they choose to do and be what they would want and let others do the same!
I love men, I love women; I LOVE God’s beautiful creations!!
Times have changed for sure. Women have come a long way. They play important roles in management, politics, science & varied other fields across the world. Gender equality is not the biggest concern these days. However, a significantly large percentage of this world’s human society still hasn’t changed. And that’s the bitter fact. Women’s day is marked to celebrate women’s achievements , it acts as an inspiration for millions..& so just as we have birthdays, anniversary days, Republic days… Why not a women’s day too !! It’s like India is independent , free, then why do we celebrate & mark August 15 as Independence Day ?!
I agree with your thoughts and I also feel that women’s day is overhyped and lost its relevance in today’s times. Very nice article
At the very outset, I think it is important to understand why as a society we have suddenly started recognizing a few days not just Women Day but Men Day, Father’s Day , Mother’s Day…
Are they serving any purpose or is it just for brownie points and sales?
